Snowing in Temple

This is a lot of snow for Temple. We get to go in late tomorrow.

Painted Churches

We spent the weekend in La Grange with friends and visited five of the painted churches. It was a nice weekend even with Saturday's temperature reaching 108.

Rain Room

Yesterday we waited in another long line to see the Rain Room at the MoMA. It's a temporary exhibit where cameras are used to detect people's locations and turn off the sprinkler valves above them. You can walk around in the rain but not get wet.

The Comedy of Errors was very entertaining the night before. 

I'm going to try to see Sarah's son tonight or tomorrow. Then we are going to the wedding tomorrow evening. 

Snow in Boston

Here are some snow pictures from the first blizzard a month ago. During this blizzard, Boston Public Schools had 2 snow days. I started student teaching the following week and each week we have had a snow day. Yesterday was the fifth snow day. The snow is piled much higher now.

Dear All,

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures, although we will be providing some soon. Sandra and I just moved into the attic room. It's quite nice and the stairs don't seem as steep with the carpet and the two handrails. Luckily it's been quite cool at night and we've yet to use our fancy (and expensive!) air-conditioner.

Of course the big thing for us is the impending month in the Rome. As always happens, the weather is beautiful and the garden is blooming and we can't think why we take this trip. But, I assume, once we get there it will seem that no other place else will quite do.

Both John and Katherine are wrapping up their baseball seasons. It's John's first year in the "majors" and there are some adjustments required, but there's always next year. Katherine says she dislikes baseball intensely but there sure was a smile crossing her face when bat finally hit ball and the swift-footed Katherine made it safely to first. She was called out on third base eventually but I think that was just becaue the umpire wanted the game to end.

Winter Wonderland

We had 3 inches of snow last night. The birds were very demanding. I had too go out for a suet cake for my woodpecker. Hopefully I'll catch a photo tomorrow. Am trying some different settings on my camera. Shooting the birds through the windows do not make for the best pictures. Watching the Surrogate. The jury is still out on this one. It's a good night to hunker down under the blankets and keep warm. Sammy is snoozing. Now that I know how to post a photo, his may be next.

For all those lost fans, google Lost the Transmission for interesting weekly podcasts. This group has been transmitting since at least 2007. Love their insights. They are a couple in Hawaii. Can't wait to see how it is all tied together.

For those of your disappointed by the new flavors of the Necco sweethearts, do not fret. Target carries Brach's version. The traditional flavors we grew up loving.
